This is a publicly editable site to record makers and the clocks and watches they made. Please contribute

This is a list of clockmakers, watchmakers and allied trades we are trying to build up. The aim is to make a large database for anyone to get access to. It is made up from old records, clocks & watches that have been seen or repaired, and from contributions from anyone who has a clock or watch with a makers name on, preferably with details of the movement, and if possible a photograph.
It is very difficult to find information to separate actual makers from retailers, but even retailers dates can help date a clock or watch. Some makers bought in movements and put their name on them.
Please edit wherever you see the edit this page link. However little information you may have please be bold and enter it anyway because it may help confirm details from elsewhere.
Do not enter any contributors addresses, clock locations or E-mail addresses unless you have permission.
The idea is to set out in alphabetical order the names of makers (and in some cases retailers) of Horological goods in the UK and other countries with as much extra detail as practical.
Help we need a logo. Steve does not want to polish that clock forever!
This site went live 12/12/2003 and we have 271 articles so far. There are many errors please bear with us, you can help by editing and correcting mistakes where found.
This has site evolved from work done by Richards of Burton on the clockmakers of Burton and South Derbyshire. And the software this site uses [MediaWiki] is also used for [Wikipedia].
